As I walk along our beaches here on Anglesey, I find myself drawn to broken shells, usually whelk or conch shells, delighting in their exposed internal spirals and fractured imperfection. They seem to echo so much of my life and echo with a deep resonance, there is beauty in broken things, something I know so well. Taking this thought I am working on a new series of work, “Broken is Beautiful” I hope to share the journey of making, firing and completion with you, starting with these photos, one completed piece 61cm x 21cm burnished and smoke fired.
