Being a potter on Anglesey is wonderful, it is one of the most beautiful places you can imagine
Jane Samuel
Artists Statement
My work is inspired by the restlessness of the sea and the ever changing seashore that surrounds Anglesey. Taking these two elements, we understand that no matter how much control we believe we have, there is something greater than us, that can alter everything we know and understand at the turn of a hand.
This is the essence of my work.
Contrasting and complimenting, burnished stoneware and translucent porcelain, each individually hand built piece uses elements from the seashore, once finished, is then surrendered to either high temperatures or smoke and fire, where they take on a life of their own, reshaped and new.
